WROCLAW, July 26th –Four days of electrifying competition wrapped up on Monday with the bowling segment of The World Games finishing its fourth and final day of competition. The event showcased 64 of the world’s best bowling athletes from 19 countries who competed in four medal events at the Sky Tower in Wroclaw as part of The World Games 2017. Up for grabs were gold, silver and bronze medals in the women’s singles, women’s doubles, men’s singles and men’s doubles events. The high level of talent showcased on the lanes truly made this event a battle between the best.

With the format of the competition taking on a new player versus player, team versus team layout similar to that of football, the excitement of the event was at an all-time high. With so many world class athletes, it was anybody’s game to begin with and as the competition went on the matches were incredibly tight highlighting the top level talent that spectators were subject to. The winners fought hard to stay on top and truly earned the right to their coveted The World Games medals. The medal recipients for the competition were:

To add to the excitement, two of World Bowling’s athletes were selected by the organisers to be the IWGA Athletes of the Day on day four. Clara Guerrero and Rocio Restrepo of Colombia won the award due to their spectacular win in the previous day’s doubles competition. Guerrero and Restrepo were invited to take part in an awards ceremony in the center of Wroclaw and were presented Tissot watches from Vice Mayor of Wroclaw Wojciech Adamski and IWGA Board Member Anna Arzhanova.

Competition Manager Michael Seymour said “The World Games is the pinnacle event on the World Bowling calendar and this 2017 edition has been an incredibly close and exciting tournament showcasing the best that the sport has to offer. The players and teams have been world class and the atmosphere extending from The World Games operations has made this entire experience electrifying. World Bowling would like to thank the IWGA and the Wroclaw Organising Committee who have truly staged an excellent edition of The World Games.”

The World Games is a multi-sport event staged every four years by the International World Games Association under the patronage of the International Olympic Com¬mittee. The 10th edition of The World Games will be held in Wroclaw, Poland, 20–30 July 2017. More than 3,000 athletes from 31 sports and 111 countries will take part in the Games.
