MUNICH, March 19 – Sweden’s Jenny Wegner has won the first World Bowling Tour event for 2018.  The 23 year old beat the USA’s Anthony Simonsen in a 219 to 213 match at The Brunswick Euro Challenge at Dream Bowl Palace in Munich.

The three- player stepladder finals saw Wegner knock out Thailand’s Larpapharat Yannaphon with an easy 233 against Yannaphon’s 214.  Wegner then moved on to play and win the finals match against 21 year old Simonsen.

Earlier in the tournament Wegner had accepted the eight point handicap offered to all female players meaning that she was not eligible for a PBA Title from the event.

The World Bowling Tour Munich marks the first of a very exciting 12 stop tour in 2018.  The next  event being the United States Bowling Congress Masters April 8-15 in Syracuse, N.Y. where again a PBA Title will be up for grabs as well as a chance to earn bonus points on the World Bowling Tour Rankings.

The full list of stops can be seen below and on the World Bowling Tour website: http://www.worldbowling.org/events-results/world-bowling-tour/

For the first time in World Bowling Tour history, a three tier system has been introduced.  The tier system is explained below:

Tier 2 events – Athletes receive four times the number of WBT Ranking points.  Events have between $100,000 and $200,000USD prize money and a solid field of competitors

Tier 3 events – Athletes receive two times the number of WBT Ranking points.  Events have between $50,000 and $100,000USD prize money
