Colombia Comes Through with Two Teams in Doubles Semi-Finals

LAS VEGAS, August 25 – Team Colombia 3 leads the final four into the World Bowling Women’s Championships Doubles semi-finals with a very consistent performance from Rocio Restrepo and Maria Rodriguez. Rocio rolled 1381 and Rodriguez shot 1377 for a 2758 total and overall 229.5 average.

“We started a little slow, but we knew when the lanes started to break down we had a chance to give it a good run,” said Restrepo. “Maria had a good look and when she started striking, I got loose. We trusted each other’s moves and I think that was the reason we did so well.”

“We had a plan going in and we just had to grind it out those first two games until they opened up,” said Rodriguez. “After that, we just followed what we did yesterday, and it worked pretty good.”

Team Colombia 2 will enter the finals in third place behind Team Korea in second with totals of 2729 and 2727. Team Sweden captured the fourth spot with a 2706.

In Thursday’s semi-finals, Korea will bowl against Colombia 2 in the first match. Team Colombia 3 will then roll against Sweden. The two winning teams will bowl one more match for the Doubles gold medal.

Monday, Trios Competition gets underway with two squads at 9:00 am and 2:00 pm.
